As we close out 2025, we reflect on a year of transformation, innovation, and community impact. From groundbreaking solar initiatives to strategic communications and operational excellence, Savion continued to lead with purpose and performance. 

Project Milestones & Success 

  • Savion brought Martin County Solar Project online in Kentucky—the first for Savion and for the state of Kentucky to be developed on reclaimed coal land. 
  • Kiowa County Solar Project reached commercial operation—marking the company’s first solar project to be developed, constructed, and operated under Savion management in Oklahoma.  
  • Onsite beekeeping launched at Madison Fields Solar Project, reinforcing Savion’s commitment to agrivoltaics and pollinator-friendly development. 
  • Savion Equity, LLC, a subsidiary of Shell plc, and a fund managed by the Ares Infrastructure Opportunities strategy (Ares) announced the formation of a new joint venture, Tango Holdings, LLC (Tango) to manage 496 megawatts (MW) of Savion-developed solar projects in Ohio, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Indiana. 
  • Energy Vault announced the acquisition of Savion-developed SOSA Energy Storage Center in Texas. 

Recognition & Leadership 

  • Savion President and CEO Nick Lincon was appointed to the American Clean Power (ACP) Board of Directors, representing Shell and collaborating with partners across the industry. 
  • Savion received the 2025 Clean Tech Breakthrough Award for Solar Technology Innovation for its work on Martin County Solar Project—developed on reclaimed coal land.  
  • Savion welcomed Brad Kallenberger, Senior Vice President of Asset Management—a new role and new department for the company. 
  • Matt Stedl (Savion) and David Black (Shell Energy Solutions) collaborated on a byline for Solar Power World about what it takes to successfully deploy battery energy storage systems (BESS)—covering regulatory hurdles, securing interconnection, and addressing safety, maintenance, and long-term scalability. 
  • Martin County Solar Project earned Savion a prestigious 2025 Green Power Leadership Award in the Market Innovation category, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.  

Operations & Talent Development 

  • Human Resources staff represented Savion in a career fair at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, engaging with students about opportunities in renewable energy.   
  • Savion welcomed nine summer interns across the departments of health and safety, project finance, development, land stewardship, market strategy and analysis, engineering, real estate, human resources, and marketing.  
  • Savion came together to learn, laugh, and lead with safety at Savionites for Safety Day 2025
  • Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) achieved over one million work hours without any major injuries or fatalities—reflecting Savion’s proactive approach to managing high-risk activities and ensuring contractor safety commitments. 
  • The Martin County Solar Project team collaborated to ensure its unusable solar panels were processed into raw materials that will feed directly into other U.S. manufacturing streams, avoiding landfills.  
  • Savion’s Permitting and Environmental department rebranded its team to Land Stewardship— a practice of development with a commitment to exploring multi-use land strategies and biodiversity initiatives focusing on soil health, hydrology, and ecology on every project.  

Community & Social Performance 

  • To recognize MLK Day of Service, Savionites donated hygiene products for Love Bags in Kansas City. 
  • Savion and Martin County Solar Project contributed to the installation of a solar panel array on the grounds of the Martin County High School in Inez, Kentucky. 
  • In Lawrence, Kansas, a Savion volunteer group spent time on garden cleanup with Just Food, a food bank and community garden to help support the organization’s food waste reduction and composting efforts.  
  • Savion hosted two memorable Lunch & Learn events—featuring Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin Willmott in May and activist Rebekah G. Taussig in October. Both sessions sparked inspiring, thoughtful discussions with two exceptional storytellers.   
  • The Savion team participated in the 2025 Savion Day of Caring—an annual companywide volunteer event supporting communities in Kansas City and across the country. Volunteer efforts included work with Urban Produce Push, Thelma’s Kitchen, NewHouse, KC Scraps, Giving the Basics, Westside CAN, Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, Seattle Day of Service Park Clean Up, Philabundance in Philadelphia, Houston Food Bank, Feed My Starving Children in Minneapolis, and Donate Life Northwest in Portland. 
  • To close out the year, Savion employees participated in a virtual fundraiser benefiting Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.  

Future Priorities 

As we prepare for 2026, Savion remains committed to:
