Elkhart County Solar Project is Savion’s first project to be developed, constructed, and owned by Savion in Indiana. Local and state permits for the project were obtained in 2022 after permitting began in 2021.
Construction on the project commenced in August 2024 and was completed in March 2026. Elkhart County Solar Project is expected to quietly generate clean, renewable energy for the next 40 years.
The project entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with Indiana Michigan Power in 2023 for its full 100 MW capacity. Spanning 850 acres, Elkhart County Solar Project produces enough energy to power approximately 20,000 Indiana homes each year.
Power from the project is delivered to the PJM grid via the Indiana Michigan Transmission Company’s 138 kV McNutt substation.
