Internship Details
Savion is seeking a self-starting and highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student with a passion for Environmental Studies or other related field and interest in Renewable Energy from an accredited university to fill a Permitting & Environmental Department Summer Intern position. This position will start in May 2026 and end in August 2026 with the possibility to extend the duration to December 2026. The candidate will complete a variety of tasks while being trained and mentored by our team of Permitting & Environmental experts. This position is open to all qualified individuals who desire to either work remotely or join Savion’s dynamic development team in our Kansas City office.

Position Responsibilities
The candidate will report to a Senior Permitting & Environmental Manager who is heavily involved in Savion’s development strategy related to its portfolio of existing and proposed utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. The candidate will assist the Senior Permitting & Environmental Manager and other team members in executing their daily activities. This will provide the candidate with the opportunity to interact daily with Savion’s project development team, which is comprised of numerous subject matter experts in real estate, engineering, transmission, origination, finance, GIS, and procurement. The ideal candidate will also provide ongoing support for various development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in researching and analyzing regulatory requirements for utility-scale solar projects.
- Collaborate with the permitting team to prepare and submit environmental permit applications.
- Contribute to environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Engage in stakeholder communication and coordination for project approvals.
- Participate in site visits and fieldwork to support environmental assessments.
Position Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant environmental science, planning, or similar program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must have good analytical, decision-making, communication, creative problem-solving, and human relations skills.
- Familiarity with renewable energy and applicable environmental regulations and permitting processes is a plus.
- Must be organized, self-motivated and capable of working both independently and in group settings.
- Working knowledge of GIS and Microsoft Office applications
