Position Details
Savion is looking for an experienced project developer to manage utility-scale energy storage project development in the Northeast (NYISO, Eastern PJM, and ISO-NE) from leasing efforts through permitting to the start of construction. Reporting to the Northeast Regional Team Lead, the successful candidate will lead cross-functional project teams that consist of internal staff and external consultants with expertise in engineering, permitting, environmental studies, real estate/title, and transmission. This exciting position will require an entrepreneurial skillset: developing large energy storage projects in urban/suburban environments with potentially complex development plans and engineering solutions. Previous experience in utility-scale storage, solar, or wind development in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut is strongly preferred. Good judgment and strong project management, negotiation, and leadership skills are key valued attributes for this dynamic position.
Responsibilities
- Site acquisition including landowner lease/purchase option negotiations
- Proactive coordination of preliminary project design / working with EPC team to generate creative design solutions for complex project sites
- Coordination of local, state, and federal permitting processes
- Coordination of project environmental studies
- Creation and management of a project public relations plan
- Negotiation of local tax abatement
- Creation and management of an overall project strategy plan
- Project schedule, critical path, and critical issues management and reporting
- Project budget and cash flow projection, management and tracking
- Coordination of the project interconnection process
- Support in the identification and screening of project opportunities
- Support of pro forma financial modeling
- Support the negotiation of power purchase and asset sale agreements
- Remain apprised of and communicate with the team on relevant regulatory or legislative matters at the local or state level
- Must be willing to travel 25%+ of time (New York, New Jersey and/or Connecticut)
Job Requirements
- 4-year college degree required, advanced and/or technical degree preferred
- Project development/management experience required
- 3+ years development experience in the renewable energy / energy storage industry required
- 5+ years development experience in the renewable energy / energy storage industry preferred
- Knowledge of regional environmental and site permitting processes required
- Proven track record in project management and permitting success preferred
- Knowledge of energy industry specific regulatory and legislative frameworks included tax abatement preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Power-Point, etc. required
- Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar software experience preferred
- Leadership traits are key; must have the ability to successfully lead cross-functional and dynamic project teams in a matrix organization
